A Plug For Charity

Yesterday was my first official day volunteering at the Thrift Store for Matthews Help Center.  The name of the store is Back Porch Treasures.  All of the proceeds go toward supporting the great things the Center is involved in.  They provide crisis assistance, ESL, Food Pantry and on and on.click here to learn more  


I really didn't know what to expect going into this and I was absolutely blown away.  That place was Rock'n!  I worked from 12:30 until 4:15 and it was busy the entire time.  My job was to put out Christmas items and merchandise those shelves.  Let me tell you, there was no merchandising of any shelves.  I couldn't get the stuff out fast enough before it was gone.

Now on the outfit of the day...

So I have these dark red cords that I hardly ever wear because I never know what to pair them with.  I don't want the obvious red, white and blue theme and black is so boring.  Yesterday I received the new Boden catalog so I decided to flip through and see what they paired with red.  I love pretty much everything in that catalog, so I figured I couldn't go wrong.  Red and some variation of purple was everywhere!  Okay, so not  two colors I normally pair together, but lets go check out the closet. 
Here is what I came up with:

I really do like the color pallet and I have to say I would have never ventured there if not for my perusal of
the catalogue.

Once again I opted for no necklace.  This time because of the bow at the neckline.  If you didn't know the bow trend is really hot right now.  I just saw a spread about it in either Lucky or InStyle Magazine.

My shoes were given to me by a friend who loves to shop for shoes for her daughter.  Lucky for me I get all the shoes her daughter decides she doesn't like or wear anymore.  I will call these shoes "pass alongs" not "hand me downs".  Thank you C. for having the same size foot as I do!

PS...most all the emails I received about the square toed boots said to go ahead and wear them.  I think I will unless of course I venture off to NYC or LA. :)
