I did a DIY project this week.
I decided to try my hand at these cute pom poms.
After making the first one,
I remembered making something like this back in the day
at summer camp.
Things always come back around don't they?
I gathered my supplies and cut my squares out of tissue paper.
Fold squares into an accordion fold and then place a piece of wire in the middle and secure a ribbon or string.
(I used 8 pieces of tissue paper per flower)
(I used 8 pieces of tissue paper per flower)
Carefully unfold the tissue paper to create your pom pom.
I discovered that the tissue paper that is
coated on one side works best.
The more you do the better you will get at separating the paper.
I used my pom poms to decorate my sad, pitiful
1990's brass chandelier in the dining room.
I originally wanted to have them hanging,
but I needed to put two pom poms together
to get the look I wanted.
Sadly, I had run out of tissue paper.
This was a fun little project and not very time consuming.
You could do it for a number of different ideas and the color palette is endless.

Very cute, love the blue too!
I'm making knit gloves right now and a some knit booties (for me!). I'm always making something. lol
Have a great weekend Brett!
I tried making these for my wedding a few years back -- at first it was fun and therapeutic, creating something so light and bright. But then, I got sloppy and started tearing the paper accidentally. My patience ran out before the tissue paper did!
These look so pretty, i'm sure my girls would enjoy making some. xxx
these came out great! what a fun way to add a bit of color!

Brett, these came out beautifully and really decorated your chandelier, which I think is quite nice, btw..
I love that you chose these colors, they are my favorite as they remind me of the sky and the ocean. I also love those ceramic birds!

Your pom-poms turned out great. I had to make a bunch last summer for my niece's party. Such a great idea to hang them from your light fixture.
