Friend Friday:How Do You Make It Happen?

1. What technology do you use in blogging? (computer, camera, video camera, tripod, etc...)
I am lucky in that I have 3 computers I can use.  A Dell that is in our keeping room for everyone to use. My son's netbook which I borrow more often than he likes (blogging in bed is awesome) and my computer in my studio which son1 built and is the bomb.
I use a Cannon Power Shot which is pink by the way, to take my daily pictures.  When I do a video, I use my Flip video ultra HD.  I have a sad tripod that is now being held together with duct tape as of yesterday.
I would like to learn to blog from my iPhone.

2. What computer and online technology do you use? (blogging system, photo storage, photo editing tools, etc..)
I don't use a lot of online technology.  I need to move my photos to photobucket or flickr, but just haven't done it yet.  Right now they are just stored on my computer wasting space.  I do use Picnik to adjust the color on my pictures and sometimes for the eyes, but I am intimidated by the rest of the options.
I use Blogger as my format and have been happy with it so far.

3. What is your process for taking pictures?
Don't really have a process.  Sometimes I take immediately after getting dressed or later in the day.  I do wait for the sun to be in the proper position.  No mid-day photos if I can help it.
I just play around with poses and hope for the best.
The entire process takes about 5 minutes.

4. When it comes to backdrops for your photos what do you consider? Do you scout locations or shoot the same spot daily?
I have about 4 locations in the backyard that I use.  My favorite is against the brick wall, but we have a drainage problem in the backyard and sometimes it is just too tricky to walk back there. lol
If it is raining or just too darn cold I will be a big baby and take an indoor shot.
My goal is move to new locations when the weather gets warmer.  I love the blogs that have great funky new locations everyday.  Like I said this is a goal, hopefully it will happen.

5. If you could splurge and get one new piece of equipment what would you be buying?
Well, since my tripod decided it wanted to become a bipod yesterday, tripod would be the logical answer, but I would really like an SLR, Nikon D40 to be exact.

Nice answers. I was also using a Canon PowerShot until I got a Nikon dSLR for Christmas. Let me encourage you to make that move -- the process of taking pictures is so much more fun now and the results are hugely better.

Looks like it is time for a new tripod. And I have to agree, sometimes blogging in bed is great. And blogging from an iPhone is possible but I think more as a last resort instead of a usual plan. - Katy
