Confession Time....

I made a purchase yesterday! I know, now stopping judging me, but I have a really good explanation.  The other day, Misty over on
An Unpretentious Teacher, the creator of the 100 day retail detox, blogged that she bought a pair of sunglasses.  Her take is that sunglasses are not clothes and therefore don't count.

Now, normally I really wouldn't have paid that much attention to her statement except that last weekend while out with a friend, I spotted a pair of sunnies that I fell in love with. They have been haunting me ever since I saw them.
I had tried on a pair with this styling back in September at BCBG.  The price tag was way over my budget, but I remembered what those frames looked like in case I came across a pair actually in my budget!
These sunnies were only $10, well within my budget.
Just to clarify, technically I didn't shop, I just bought.
I went into the store, headed straight for the sunnies, then to the check out and then straight back to my car.
Did you catch the great blue detailing on the glasses?
They have come in handy today as the sun is shining and it is a cold brisk day.
Son2 says those big frames will protect me from anything that comes my way.
(why do I get the feeling there is an insult in that statement?)
I got out the big guns sweater for the first frost today.
Since it was short sleeve, I put on this great burnt out velvet polka dot shirt underneath.
I usually just bring this shirt out at holiday time.
What a waste that has been!

Hope you all have a great weekend.
I will finally be having my elbow surgery on Monday, but I have posts lined up even though I will only have one arm for awhile.

What do you think about my sunglasses purchase?
Was it cheating?

I think it's ok to purchase the sunglasses. It's not like you went crazy and bought a bunch of other stuff. And sunglasses are a necessity to keep the sun out of your eyes.

I like that you took a shirt you normally only wear during the holidays and made it work now. Since blogging, I have learned to wear some of my clothes in so many different ways. Have a great weekend and good luck with your surgery! Heather

I LOVED that...I didn't shop I just bought. $10 come on, that's a steal and you would have regrated it later. I froze on my way to work today! Stayyyyy cozy!

Dying over here. You are hilarious. Girl, you made this choice but you get do buy and do whatever you want. No judgment from me, lady. Great sunnies. Oh, man, still laughing about all your justification on this. And all of that for $10? You are a-door-bell.

Tracy

Sunglasses are medical aids! You need them to protect your eyes from UVA & UVB rays!!!
They are also a safety item - you need them to drive in bright sunlight!!

Any other rationalization I can do for you?

Accessories (and nail polish) are never cheating (at least that's my justification!) I love the crushed velvet top and the sunnies frame your face perfectly. I hope your elbow surgery is quick and painless-I'll be thinking about you!

I don't think that buying these shades were "cheating." In fact if I did this challenge, unless I paid for something in cash or credit card, gift cards are ok..that is not 'cheating.' I am a bad influence.

I love the layering you did up top! And the fun mixing of textures. I still haven't pulled out any of my serious sweaters... I'm avoiding it for as long as possible. I'm totally in denial about winter.

#1 You are enviably organized
#2 You make me laugh with your shopping vs buying justifications
#3 You are having your first frost? Amazing!

My hubs always says that he and I are not shoppers, just buyers. I think you're onto something.

I won't hold your purchase against you, I think you've done well with your detox, and sometimes we just need to buy ourselves a little something!

Love those jeans on you, they are so flattering!
