TV Talk

Have you been watching the new shows this fall?
There are only two that have gotten me hooked.
Call The Midwife, a BBC program on PBS and Nashville with the incomparable Connie Britton.
Call The Midwife takes place in the 1950's in the East End of London.
It really is fascinating and tells a story about a place and time that I really had no knowledge of.
Being a huge fan of all things British and period shows this program is quite a treat.
Nashville, obviously takes place in Nashville and follows a beloved aging country singer and the up and coming ingenue.
Now before you scoff and say it is "Country Strong" in TV form, I assure you it is not.
The music in this show is wonderful as are the actors who sing them.
Even if you are not a country music fan,
I think you will like the stories this show has to tell.
Today's outfit was inspired by a photo I saw on Instagram.
I love the rich colors of the burgundy, black and grays.
A simple outfit, but deep in layers and rich in texture.

What new TV shows are you watching this season?
Have you seen either of these shows, what did you think?

leather vest-Ann Taylor

I caught some of Nashville last Wednesday. It looked like it could be a hit. Unfortunately, I don't watch a lot of TV. I usually fall asleep before I can get through a whole show, lol.

Loving the burgundy and black. You look so cozy for fall. Heather

I like your leather waistcoat very much, and the burgundy cords are great - your legs look a mile long!

I watched Call the Midwife and enjoyed it (my mum was a midwife in London, slightly earlier, in the late 1940s, so she watched it too) and I like the sound of Nashville. I'll keep an eye out to see if it plays over here. xxx

I haven't seen either show! I am a huge fan of Hawaii 5-0. Looking good, and I love that leather vest...ahh the days when Ann Taylor sold things with real leather, 100% natural fibers like silk..wool...cotton...remember those days?

I haven’t seen Call The Midwife, but Nashville is a new favorite of mine. I watched the premiere with one of my DISH coworkers. We both loved the show and the music, even though neither of us are country fans. I actually set my Hopper to record the entire season as soon as I heard Nashville’s version of If I Didn’t Know Better. It was stunning, and since my Hopper has enough room for me to save the whole season I’ll be able to re-watch episodes with songs like that. It was really very impressive. Cute outfit, by the way; I like the bracelets.

I like goofy shoes like "New url" and just started getting into "The Mindy Project". Nashville sounds right up my alley, will have to check it out! I watched Country Strong last week and dang are the men in that movie sexy or what? Love those burgundy (or should I say, ox blood) pants and the edgy accessories.

I just watched the first episode of Nashville - so fun to see all the local sites! And thanks for the bbc show recommendation - maybe it will hold me over till Downton Abbey returns!
