Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Well, are you absolutely sick of 12.12.12 yet??
Funny how something like that gets so out of hand.

Today is a new day and time for awkward and awesome happenings this week.
 Awkward:
  • I saw two brothers buying their mom a Christmas vest at Walmart.  I really wanted to go over there and guide them in a new direction!
  • Son2 and I were looking at Christmas ornaments on the tree and he commented on the graduation caps as ornaments.  Both sons have one from high school and husband has one from graduate school.  I commented that I was the only one without a graduation cap ornament and son2 said, "but mom, you have your tiara ornament?"
  • Smoke alarm going off in your home during a party because a candle in the bathroom has gone insane.
  • Getting a gift at a gift exchange that goes in conjunction with another item, an item I do not own.
  • Son1 and a friend coming home for an unexpected visit at lunch and having absolutely no food in the house.
 Awesome:
  • Son2 is home for the holidays from college.
  • Going to brunch with husband and getting in just before the wait list is started.
  • Going to bed and son2's hair is it's normal chin length, waking up and he walks downstairs with a shaved head.  He looks great!
  • Christmas parties!!
  • Christmas baking with son2.
Sorry to be so top heavy with awesomeness about son2,
but it is so nice to have him back home for a bit.
I think this is the first time I have ever layered
 a sweater over another sweater
and it worked out much better than I thought it would.
It kept me comfy and warm, but wasn't bulky and restricting at all.

So, how was your week?
More awesome or awkward or just the right amount of both?

I bet it's great having the sons home during the holidays :) I am sure after Kayla heads off for college and comes home I will be just as excited.

I love the bottoms of your cargo pants how they tie. They look great with your boots. Heather

Sounds like it's shaping up to be a GREAT family holiday for you. Yes, you should've staged an intervention at Walmart with that vest. Love your wedge booties!

Brett, I hear you about kids coming home. No matter how old they are, they'll always be our babies.
Such a cute outfit!

Love this look, it's so chic and cozy at the same time. Had to laugh at your first "awkward" item...I pray my kids never get me a gift like that!
