New Beginnings

I hope everyone had a pleasant Monday while returning to regular everyday life.
Isn't it funny how everything looks so fresh, new and hopeful at the beginning of January.  We make our resolutions, we clean out closets and drawers, we look forward to new promises and dreams.
My hope for you is that all this doesn't end come the beginning of February.
That we see everyday through fresh eyes and see the joy, hope and beauty in everything.  Yes, even in the days ahead that reveal struggle, change and become dark & twisty.
Just remember without joy, hope and beauty we run the risk of becoming lost forever!  No one likes to be lost!!

To inspire a little beauty into my world today I decided to wear this red and black buffalo check skirt.

I love this skirt and have had it forever.  I knew if I held onto it long enough it would come back in style!

I have to confess that after I took these pictures I changed my tights from the red ones here to a pair of black.
I just didn't like the way the red on red looked.

Do you have a favorite piece of clothing that you have had for a long time?  Would love to hear what it is!

LOVE buffalo plaid. So great.

You asked about my striped maxi dres. It's a racerback tank from Gap! Super comfy. I have one in solid navy as well.

Fringed skirts like this always catch my eye. I've come across a couple out shopping...I think switching to the black tights was a good choice.

A favorite piece--long, grey cardigan, which I would not be caught dead in on my blog. :)

I've had the same wool pea coat since I was 17. It's classic enough to always be in style.

Isn't it great when one of those items in your closet comes back in style? Love the plaid of this skirt, you are right; you can wear it now! Why did you change the tights? I wore red tights for xmas--it was so much fun! Old stuff? too many to name. Paula

I have a bowling shirt that was my dad's. It actually has little white bowling pins for buttons. I love it.

On my own; I have a brown leather jacket I've had forever. I'll never get rid of it.

Buffalo plaid is the best!

HELLO! I LOVE this skirt so much! I've had such a recent obsession with buffalo plaid lately....and I had a difficult time hunting it down. If I ever found a skirt like this, I wouldn't let it go either! Good call!

You are so cute. Love the boots. I stopped by The Loft finally... they had the jacket but only in a 6 and it was a little big, I think I need a 4. There is another Loft I'm gonna check out. xo

Actually, before I read that you switched tights I was thinking those looked pretty good. I'm not a fan of bright tights but I thought those went well with the skirt.

I'm sure the black was fine 'cause they went well with the boots.

I have a friend who always teases me about holding onto certain pieces in my closet for ages, but the truth is they still get regularly circulated and look great! Who cares if they were from a few seasons ago if they make sense? Especially a few flowy, dressier dresses in creams and blacks. They're so simple they're timeless, and they're still in great shape considering they're from Forever21!

Love this skirt super cute and cozy looking!!
