This is great since I am leaving Wed. for Nashville and the next Wednesday I am headed to Destin, FL.
1. When it comes to packing for vacation what’s your mantra?
- I pack as light as I can and try to wear things that pair well with the same shoes and jewelry
- the less you pack the better...hey if you need it and don't have it, there is your built in excuse to go SHOP!
- for Nashville, light weight clothes, light weight clothes, light weight clothes
- for Destin, double duty clothes
2. What are your must packs?
- sweater, jacket or sweatshirt depending on where I am going, especially if I am flying
- a pair of jeans
- a dressy outfit
- for Nashville, I am bringing nice cool sundresses, with temps in the high 90's and being outside that is the only thing to wear
- for Destin, swimwear and lots of sunscreen
3. What are you happy to leave behind?
- hairdryer, since most places have them in the room
- only take make-up essentials
- shampoo, soap, etc... things that most places provide these days
- for Nashville I will be leaving behind the cowboy boots and hat as much as I hate it, but it will just be TOO HOT
- for Destin, I will be leaving behind all shoes except for sandals
4. Any packing secrets that help you get everything into one suitcase?
- I pack using the rolling of clothes method, takes up much less space
- I tuck small items into shoes
- use all the pockets on your suitcase, inside and outside
- for Nashville, I will be leaving behind all hair tools, since it will be so hot a pony tail or bun is the order of the day
- for Destin, I am thinking I might do the same thing
5. Beach reading… what are you taking with you to read in the sand?
- Tina Fey-Bossy Pants
- Kiristin Hannah-True Colors
- Julie Garwood-Fire and Ice
- Debbie Macomber-An Engagement In Seattle
- Susan Wiggs-The Ocean Between Us
Would love to hear your tips and tricks and any summer reading must haves you want to suggest.

Tina Fey's book should be a great vacation read. She's hilarious.
I roll my clothes too, but sort them into big Ziploc bags - keeps things organized, gives you more space and prevents toiletries spills from ruining your clothes. It's not the best method if you're moving around a lot though. - Kat

Smart tips. I learned some new ones from you, which is great. I normally pack for a motorcycle -- which means condensing down to the essentials -- and always need the best advice.
The baby-luggage photo had me laughing so hard that coffee came out my nose...
Tina Fey wrote a book? This I have to read! I also roll my clothes and I have a handy dandy roll up case for my jewellery and makeup that I just love! Hahaha I agree with Shy- I love the baby picture- my cats always crawl into my luggage! Have an amazing time in Nashville fellow country gal! :)
Whoa--it has been a while since I visited. I like the new look.
I started using the rolling method last year. It's amazing how much space it saves!
