Repair It and Wear It

Today's challenge is so outside of my wheelhouse that I am actually doing the opposite of this challenge.
I have no repair pile, no alter pile, no to be sewn pile anywhere in my house.  The closest I get to a repair is sewing on a lost button.

I did have a white jean jacket that was just too big and boxy for me and I was very tempted to donate it.  Then I read on several other blogs that the solution to this problem was to cut off the sleeves and make a vest out of it.
Hence, the opposite part of this challenge.
Instead of repairing something, I destroyed something.
Well, that is a bit dramatic, but go with it....
You know what? cutting off the sleeves didn't make this vest the best thing in my closet, but it sure did help.
Once I belted it, it really improved.
Will this be a go to item?
Probably not, but it wins a place in the closet and not the Goodwill bag.
Are you like me?
No repair pile in sight and probably never will have one.
Or are you a DIYer making dresses into skirts and turning old jeans into cute bags and accessories?

Oh, that was clever! I have a repair pile, but I'm not planning to repair them because I'm terrible with a needle and thread! So, they're going to the cleaners because the guy there is a genius with a needle and thread. lol

I think the vest looks good.  I don;'t have a repair pile, but I do have a dress sitting around that I plan to alter some day.

Great idea- I think the vest looks cute! For my last DIY project I tried making a long sleeve top into a tube top but forgot to keep the elastic attached so as soon as I tried it on it fell to my feet...oh dear!

I take everything to a great tailor. Definitely have no talent for doing things myself but I believe in altering everything to suit!
