A Little DC

Husband and I had a nice long weekend in DC this past weekend.
We flew in on Thursday and came home late Saturday night.
It was a nice little getaway for us before we send the boys off to school and officially become empty nesters!
We actually flew into Baltimore and took the train into DC.
It was kind of fun going by so many modes of travel.
Husband had meetings all day on Thursday,
so I did the Trolley Tour thing since I didn't want to wear myself out the first day.
It was a great little tour and I saw tons and learned many interesting facts.
One of the stops was Georgetown,
so of course I had to stop by Georgetown Cupcake aka
 DC Cupcakes on TLC.
On Friday, husband and I toured the Capitol and the Library of Congress.
I had never been in the Library of Congress.
 I was totally impressed!!
Our tour guide was full of knowledge.
On Saturday I payed the price for all of the walking I did on Friday.
My body was not quite ready for all of that,
but I survived
and we spent a lazy morning at the hotel.
That afternoon we spent the day in Georgetown and had brunch at Leopold's Kafe.
It is an Austrian cafe and it was fabulous!

Have you been to DC lately?
What is your favorite thing?

Looks so fun! I'm dying to go to DC with the kids. Enjoy your "empty nest" time with your hubby. I'm sure I will bawl my head off and assume the fetal position when my kids leave!! haha

We used to go to D.C. a couple of times a year when we lived in Columbia, MD. We would take the train in... so much fun. I miss being able to do that.

You went to Georgetown Cupcakes!! Soooo jealous.

That sounds glorious- sometimes a couple nights away is so refreshing! You look too young to be an empty nester soon- hot mama! Loving all the reds and pinks and how neat you got to visit DC cupcakes!

I've never been there but I sure am curious what an empty nest feels like. How exciting with mixed feelings too I'm sure. I have one son left in the nest and he's just entering high school this fall.
I like your pattern mixing in the first photo!
