Inspiration Monday

So, we are back to our regular Inspiration Monday challenge.
Today is the ever stylish Blake Lively. (or should I say the lucky Mrs. Ryan Reynolds)

I changed up my format and decided to do a side by side of the inspiration and what I wore.
I thought it would be more fun that way.
I really, really wanted to tie my scarf like Blake's.
I just couldn't figure out how she had done it.
So disappointing.
If anyone out there knows how she did it please let me know.
As you know, I rarely wear all dark colors, so it was hard for me not to pop a bright colored scarf on.
I do like how this look turned out,
but it's not something I would probably gravitate towards.
If you have always wanted to participate in the
 Two Bird's Inspiration Challenge,
I encourage you start the new year off by joining in.
It is a lot of fun and I wear things I would never normally wear.  It really does stretch your styling imagination.

Would you have stuck with the all black look
or
would you have added a pop of color?

You nailed this week's look!

Yes!! I wanted to tie my scarf like Blake's, too, but I wasn't able to figure it out either. Hopefully someone comments about how she did it.

I agree about the lack of color, too. I don't feel like myself when I'm in all black.

I love it Brett! You look fab and very like her! Not sure about the scarf how she tied it! I love colours but I do enjoy wearing black as well!

I love that this is an all black/white/gray look but that you mixed it up with the textures and prints! Those printed jeans are awesome!

This was such a wonderful look from Blake and I love your take on it as well! It's a wonderful layered look for winter. I also love the bold animal print scarf you added. It polishes the outfit off!

I think the zebra print of the scarf works the same as a bright colour would, by lifting the outfit and perking it up! I wore a grey and black outfit and should have borrowed your idea, I felt a bit drab in mine. But that's what blogging is about, learning and being inspired, so thanks, Brett! You look great. xxxxx

I love that look but I love wearing all dark colors. It almost looks like the scarf ends were wrapped around each other several times and then somehow secured. For the life of me I'm not quite sure how that was done. I really love your jacket and those printed jeans are so cool.

Looking good!
I added a pink bag, I couldn't help it...

Great scarf, and I like the mix of prints that you have going on here.

The scarf really is key to the outfit. Love the zebra print on yours! And, like someone else commented, the different patterns and textures keep this outfit from being too "blah" in terms of being all one color.

I like the all black look personally. It lets the scarf be the star. Really cute look! I might have to try this one myself.

Awesome! I just love this! I like the split photo...just too good!
You look fantastic...really!

I probably would have kept it all black just b/c it's my favorite color!
I just might have to check out the challenge.

I think the reason why it was hard to get the scarf to look just like Blake's is because her's is probably a thick wool scarf...which truth be told is a sweltering to wear. I love how you styled yours and the zebra pattern is awesome.

Sassy! I really like the pants! Neat texture and the scarf really sets it all off.

I guess I "broke" the rules a bit? Not really, lol!

I really like your hair. I am embracing my Platinum locks also...stay tuned for the transition. Any tips?

Looks perfect. Even if you don't wear these colours much, this combination should get some wear from you. That scarf really makes the outfit pop. Really like it.
Oh, I don't many women who can put a photo of their own copied version next to the model and look just as good.

You nailed this look. You look very movie star! I was wondering the same thing about the scarf. How did she do that? It's funny, I rarely wear dark colours, and I was stumped on this Inspiration Monday challenge. I should not have let the colour palette stop me from creating my look. Next time!

Great re-do of this outfit. I think Blake was able to do that with her scarf because it was probably bigger and longer. It looks like a blanket!

I like the way Blake's scarf looks, too, but I have no idea how she did it either. It actually kind of looks like a giant braid?

You look so rocker chic! I like how the mix of patterns and textures turned out!

lmao love you holding the phone up ;)

You did a great job interpreting! It looks like she tied it like a tie with a loop under... but let me know if you find out too!
