Friend Friday: Are You True To Your Personality, Spirit, and Character

1. Most readers and fellow fashion bloggers value authenticity in the
blogs they read. How would you describe blog/blogger authenticity?
  • Is the blogger commenting on things they have an understanding of?
  • Are they writing in a voice that is their own?
  • Do the pictures they post represent what the blog says it's about?
  • Are the ideas you see original?
  • Do they seem to take themselves too seriously?(not a good thing)
  • Are they trying to connect with you through their comments or just leaving behind a "great outfit" comment?

2. When it comes to your blog how do you infuse it with that true/authentic feeling?
  • I pretty much write exactly how I speak
  • If I was having a conversation with you in person, I would sound exactly the same way I write
  • I posted my first vlog, which I think gives people more of an idea of who you are when they put a voice to a face.  I plan on doing more of these in the future
  • I use pictures that I have taken of myself, the good, the bad and the ugly
  • I ask for advice or admit when something didn't work

3. Have you stopped following a blog in the last three months? What made you lose interest?

Here are the 3 things that make me lose interest and get the feeling the blogger isn't truly committed to the idea of a fashion/style blog (this is just MY opinion)
  • If the person only takes pictures of their body, cropping off their head
  • If the ONLY outfit pictures posted are from a site like polyvore.  I want to see a real person wearing real clothes
  • If the person dresses over-the-top all the time. I get the feeling they are just playing dress-up and not living in what they are posting as their daily wear
4. We can't communicate effectively on our blogs, something we don't live in real life... what are some ways you try to live an authentic life?
  • I try to mix my fashion choices with my daily life activities
  • I talk about my day and maybe why a certain outfit did or didn't work
  • I let people know if the outfit they are seeing actually made it through the day as they are looking at it, or did I have to make a change
  • I try to give a little glimpse into my life, so people can get to know me through my writing

5. Give a shout-out... Which bloggers do you think are truly genuine and why?
  • Tracy @ The Closet Shopper is witty and funny in the way she writes and her clothes are real and affordable
  • The girls over @ Southern Comfort are the same way
  • Jodi @ day2daywear keeps it real and let you in on how she is feeling and what went on in her day
  • Also Ashley and Angela, they write what they know and share their knowledge.
  • There are just too many to name. I feel like a celebrity at the Golden Globes when the music starts to play and they are still thanking people.
  • More people than not, that I have come across and follow seem very genuine and authentic...that's why I follow them!

Be Authentic, Don't Be One of These!

I like the format in how you answered the questions. It made it easy to ready, and it validated each one of your points. Great answers!

Great outfit!

JUST KIDDING! I like your points - be yourself, show the real deal and be the same as you would be if you came around for tea. That's a pretty good blogging mantra :)
