Friend Friday: Things I Never Would Have Looked Twice At Before

Happy Friday everyone!
Just wanted to update you on some changes for Friend Friday.  It will now only be the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month.

Now on to today's topic:
Things I Never Would Have Looked Twice At Before
Before what you ask?  Blogging of course!

1. Since you began blogging do you notice a change in the types of things you gravitate towards while shopping?
  • Yes, I am much more discerning in my shopping.
  • I am not so impulsive
  • I gravitate more toward things to add to my wardrobe to make it more interesting, not just to have a new item of clothing
2.Do you find, as a fashion blogger, that you dress differently from your family and friends? Do they comment on that?
  • I think the main thing I hear is that I dress up all the time
  • I have learned through blogging that you have to get dressed anyway, so why not put your best foot forward!?

3.What’s the weirdest fashion that you secretly like, even if you aren’t bold enough to wear it?
    • I don't know of anything "weird" that I really want to try
    • I love the look of all neutrals, but that will never happen with my skin tone
    • I love the look of killer heels! I just can't seem to master the art of walking in them!
        4. Looking at current trends – what would you like to try but need to build up the courage to do?
    •  I will pretty much try anything once, but my rule is usually, if I wore it the last time it was in style, I probably won't wear it when it comes back in style.  The two major exceptions to my rule have been: wide legged jeans and maxi's.
    • There are some trends out there that I would like to try, but I am just not young enough anymore.

       5. Toot someone’s horn – what fashion blogger out there inspires you with her bold fashion choices?
I have to  give a shout out to all fashion bloggers though.  Because of them, my ideas, sense of fashion and readiness to think outside of the box has changed!  I salute all fashion bloggers and am glad to be counted as a one of them.

Glad to see Tracy and Ashley get the applause they deserve!

Oh, Brett! You are so super duper generous with your praise. I adore you and feel so honored to be in your list! You always inspire me with your great outfits. I wish we lived closer so we can hang out on each others decks and sip coffee or tea or lemonade or any beverage of your choice.

Ashley and Kendi are two of my daily inspirations as well!

I think I feel the same way you do about making better choices with purchases since blogging. I'm not sure why that is, but it's true for me as well.

Have a FAB anniversary dinner tomorrow night. Can't wait to see pics of that special dress.

Brett--YOU have influenced me.  I tried sequins for the first time because I remember you wearing them for everyday.

I can't walk gracefully in heels either! I've read some other people say that they've been less impulsive but I have the opposite issues! Bloggers make me want to shop!

Absolutely agree - am also less impulsive - I tend to mull over purchases much more now and make sure they will fit into my wardrobe before I make a purchase.

Yes you DO dress up a lot but YOU look great and feel great so why not?!?  I have to admit I'm still grieving not being able to wear a sundress with cowboy boots.....LOL!

I love feather skirts too, but my only concern with them is where to wear them !!! Great answers !

I think that blogging has made me become more impulsive, haha.

I love your answers and I agree with Lyddie- I think blogging has made me more impulsive with my shopping choices as well! I really love maxi dresses on you and I would much rather be overdressed than under! Have a great weekend Brett!

First of all, thanks for listing me as inspiration!  :)  I totally appreciate it and I'm so glad that I can inspire you!!

My answer to the first question is basically the same as yours.  I actually find myself shopping less now that I blog...which is kind of odd, really, but I feel like I have a better grasp on my wardrobe now, and I know that I can remix items rather than buy new ones.  And, like you, when I buy new items, they're not plain old pieces:  they're awesome pieces that will actually add interest to my outfits!

Great answers.  Hope you had a lovely weekend!  :)

P.S.  I would be willing to go for a younger man...as long as he likes pumpkin.  ;)  Hehe.

Terri, I am so glad you did the sequin thing

I have gotten equal responses to that
some shop more, some shop less
I will admit when I very first started blogging I felt like I needed
    everything everyone else wore
Thankfully that only lasted about a month!

You can wear your sundress and cowboy boots to my CMA veiwing party!!!!

If I could pull off a feathered skirt, I would wear it everywhere!

I have heard that from a lot of people
funny how some go one way and others go the other way

    Emily,
    thanks for the compliment
