FBFF: DIY Manicure Party!

This week Miss Rockwell from Lifestyles of the Thrifty and Shameless is hosting a DIY Manicure Party.
Come on over and join the fun.  You can see just what all the "cool" girls are doing with their nails this season.

As for me, I decided to try my hand at the Ombre look on the entire hand.
What is that you say??
Well, basically it is using a different color polish in the same color family on each nail.

I used purple because I actually had 5 shades in that same color family.
I started with the lightest shade on my thumb and increased the darkness of the color as I made my way to the pinkie finger.
Yea, disregard the chip on the thumb in this picture.
I am so hard on my nails.
This manicure is only 2 days old.
 Thank goodness I only DIY.
The polishes I used are as follows starting with the lightest shade first:
  • Wet N Wild Megalast- Bite The Bullet
  • Confetti-Belle of the Ball
  • Rimmel 60 Seconds- Climax
  • Sally Henson Complete-Purple Pulse
  • OPI- Midnight in Moscow
  • Nicole by OPI - Top Coat Plus
I think this is a fun look and especially great if you don't want to go too outside the box.
Have you ever worn this look before?
What is your favorite DIY manicure?

Wow I have to admit that this is the first ombre manicure I actually like. I'm not really a fan of the ombre for some reason. I just may have 5 purple colors!

I've always wanted to try an ombre mani, I might finally have enough colors in the same family to do it soon. Yours looks so pretty and fun!

I've never worn purple, could never find the right shade for my skin tone. I love this look. I hardly ever polish my nails and if I do it's clear. LOL.

I was totally out of my square for this one.

ooo glad you liked it
give it a try, it is fun and people have really commented on how much they like it out in public

if you try this look you can pick multiple shades and find the true ONE that you love and then stick with that one

That is a cute look.  All my manicures, sadly, are DIY.

do you like to do manicures Ralph?
how often do you do them
curious minds want to know.....

I like it a lot. I've been meaning to line up my polish bottles to see if I have a colour spectrum, thanks for the motivation!

It was fun sorting through the polishes.
I really wanted to do blue but had a big gap in the shades !
Hope you come up with 5 shades to try

You must love purple to have such a wide collection.  Love what you've done with your nails!

Not so much that I love purple
Just looking for the perfect shade!

This is the first I have seen or heard of this---shocker!  I'm cracking up that you have that many shades of purple.  I'm too traditional to have even one.

It has been around for awhile
I just keep looking for the perfect shade of purple. Obviously I haven't found it

I really love the lilac on your thumb!
I've never tried an ombre manni, but i do love my DIY mannis. I hate having bare nails!

Brett, I like all the purples.  I recently tried this with 5 different colors from the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection.  It really turns out well, doesn't it?  Debbie  http://thriftygirlvintage.com
